Type Accents has a number of settings that you can change to make it work
differently.
To change these settings, select "Type Accents - Options" from your Start Menu
or right click on the Type Accents icon (a small white é) in the system tray (the area next to the clock, usually in the
bottom right hand corner of the screen) and select "Options".
On the "General" tab of the options screen, the following settings are
available:
|
| General Tab of the Type Accents Options Screen |
Trigger Key
This is the key(s) that you press and hold while pressing a letter key to make
the character selection screen appear. The standard Trigger Key is the
right hand Alt key, but you can change this key to another key or keys of your
choosing. You can also set up more than 1 trigger key option so that you
can use either option (perhaps depending on whether the letter you need is on
the left or right hand side of the keyboard. For example, if you tick the
box next to the "F11" trigger key option, you will then be able to press and hold F11 and
then press a normal letter key (a or e, for example) to bring up the character
selection screen.
Automatically load Type Accents when the computer starts up
When this option is selected, Type Accents will be available to use as soon as
the computer starts up. If this option is not selected, you will have to start
Type Accents manually from the Start Menu when you want to use it.
Show the "All Characters" screen when there are no characters available
for the key that I press
This option selected Type Accents will bring up a list of all available
characters whenever there aren't any characters in your languages that are
assigned to the letter key that you pressed. Type Accents will
remember any characters that you type using this screen and show them to you
whenever you next press the same letter key. If you turn off this option
nothing will happen if you press a letter key that has no characters assigned to
it while holding down the Trigger Key.
Character List / All Characters screen style
These options allow you to change whether the 2 character selection screen
appear as a list with character names (List option) or as a grid without
character names (Tiles option). You can also change this option from the
character selection screens by pressing the small
grid or
list icons.
Warn me when I am using a program that security settings prevent Type
Accents from working with
This option only applies to computer running Windows Vista or Windows 7.
With this option selected, Type Accents will let you know if you are using a
program that Windows won't allow it to work with and help you fix this problem.
This happens because in Windows Vista and later you can launch programs in a
special administrator mode which stops Type Accents from talking to them unless
you also run Type Accents in administrator mode.
If the "Only warn me once per program" is selected you will only be warned about
a program once until you restart it. If this option is unticked you will
be shown the popup everytime you switch between this program and another
program.
